Job Overview |
Perform the duties and responsibilities of Operator on Excavators digging floors to correct RL laser level, filling trucks to capacity, batter walls, and keep truck running maintaining truck turn rounds to stop over or under trucking communicating with supervisor. |
Responsibilities and Duties |
§ Provide support to all colleagues with regards to SHE in the delivery of specialist Contract Mining Services. § Compliance with all Company and Client site-specific Procedure’s standards and Policy requirements as per induction and site rules § Assume the responsibility for all Equipment used in production mining by ensuring daily Pre-Start Checks are performed and defects reported immediately with post checks after shift. § To be part of a team of people that is organized, leads, develops and monitors thus delivering specialist Contract Mining Services to the client, being accountable for the direct results. § Full comprehension that this position is highly sensitive and crucial to the company’s operations. § Attend regular SHE and Toolbox, Prestart Meetings. § Maintain digging rates (CAT 349 or similar) § Train other personal on excavator production techniques in safe operational training procedures if required for the role. § Carry out daily inspections of safety including House Keeping standards and report to his/her supervisor. § Make sure pit walls are battered to design and clean from loose rocks § Maintain good cycle time for hauling trucks. § Maintaining good level bench for the digger and floor level for hauling trucks § Liaise with Supervisor in terms of material movement and other equipment movement § Have all material go to correct dumping locations ore to ROM and waste on right tip head § Clean equipment cabin area for safety and comfort of other operators. § Perform Senior Operator and Operator Duties as and when required. § To follow instructions by your supervisor with respect to location of work in the pit, ramps and roads to be used and destination of material § Any other Duties as put forth by your Supervisor, Senior Supervisor and/or Pit Superintendent that are deemed reasonable and fair for the understanding of duties for this position. |

Specific Skills / Competencies § Excavator operator with not less than 3 years’ experience on CAT 395, CAT 352, KOM1250 or similar. § 3 years’ experience as a production skilled excavator operator. § Can cut batters to angles requires 45-72 degrees dig drop cuts to toe and crest pegs fully load trucks and meet site dig rates. Work and communicate with other required equipment in the mine and not queue or under truck Excavators § Able to sustain work in extreme conditions while subjected to heat, cold and equipment use. § An excellent attitude to work demonstrating Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) and Cost Effectiveness awareness, and productivities always. § Eyesight with Normal Colour Vision § Active and Healthy with no medical conditions § All Safety required PPE supplied and must be always worn and looked after
