If you've lost access to your Gmail account and don't have access to your phone number or device, you can still try to recover it using other methods. Here's how:
Type in the Gmail address you're trying to recover.
When asked for a verification method like your phone, click "Try another way" (bottom left or under the prompt).
Google will try other methods you've set up (backup email, previous logins, security questions).
If you linked a backup email, you'll get a code sent there. Enter that code to proceed.
If no backup email, Google may ask:
When you created the account (month and year)
Last password you remember
Other info you may have added (recovery email, device used before)
Tip: Even approximate answers are better than skipping.
Google will ask for an alternate email address (you must have access to it).
They'll contact you if they can verify it's really your account.
Usually within 48 hours, you’ll get an email confirming if access was granted.
Use the same device, browser, and IP/network you've used before.
Provide the most accurate answers you can.
Try multiple times if you fail the first time (but don't spam it rapidly).
If recovery fails and you have no recovery options (phone, backup email, remembered passwords), and Google can't verify your identity, you may not be able to regain access.
Google does not offer a manual identity submission form (like uploading ID) for recovering standard Gmail accounts. Recovery is handled only through the automated recovery process, and there is no direct email or support team that processes individual Gmail account recovery requests unless it's a Google Workspace (business/education) account.
Click “Try another way†until no more options appear.
Then you may see the “Verify your identity prompt this is the final fallback form.
This form is where Google asks you several questions to confirm your identity. It's not a manual form submission it's automated and scored by Google system.
Old passwords you remember.
When you created the account (month/year).
Recovery email used.
Devices used with the account.
Your typical sign-in location (e.g. city or IP).
Google does not allow ID uploads or personal form submissions for free Gmail accounts. This is a privacy and scale issue they rely on automated tools only.
Try again after 1 - 2 days
Sometimes recovery works better from a previously used device or IP address.
Check devices you previously logged into
If the account is still signed in on a device/browser, you might regain access by resetting the password from there.
Google Workspace Users Only (Paid)
If you're using Gmail with a custom domain (like you@yourcompany.com), the administrator can contact Google Support directly.
Never trust third-party sites or people offering account recovery. They are often scams.
